About the Mary Woodward Ambassador Program
The Ambassador program was started in 2005 as a way to involve 5th graders in various service projects at Mary Woodward Elementary, as well as in the larger community. All 5th graders are expected to be involved in the Ambassador program, attend Committee meetings and complete some school service by giving time to help others. Most meetings occur during school hours, with service opportunities both at the school and in the community.
Ambassador Program Goal
The goal of the Mary Woodward Ambassador Program is to provide an extra-curricular leadership program for 5th grade students to learn the importance of responsibility, self-management, community service and charitable giving.

The Ambassadors experience this by:
- Working school stations each day before school, assisting other students by encouraging and exhibiting positive, safe and respectful behaviors
- Attending meetings/working lunches with program leaders
- Running the student store
- Volunteering for school functions when help is needed
- Discussing needs of others within our community and outside our environment, creating and carrying out action plans to support charitable organizations
Attendance is required by all Ambassadors at planned meetings. It is here we emphasize:
- Carrying out responsibilities and becoming personally accountable
- Behaviors that are becoming of positive school leaders
- The importance of service to our school, community and beyond
As models of good citizenship, Ambassadors are required to:
- Sign in and carry out assigned station duties on time, finding a substitute if a scheduling conflict arises, communicating any changes to program leaders
- Actively participate in community service projects & program activities
- Demonstrate commendable behaviors and respectful, positive attitudes and at home, in the classroom and on the playground – AT ALL TIMES.
